Where are we going?
The future, Doc!
Great Scott!
Not forgetting the wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey past.
That’s right, ticket holders, Destination Time Travel is your journey into the many worlds of the time travel tale – exploring its tropes, its rules, its devices, its science, its values, its plots, its characters and, most importantly, its enduring – and timeless – appeal.
The film seminar Steve Nallon and Dick Fiddy gave at the British Film Institute in October 2023 launching their book explored the world’s obsession with time travel in film and television. Nallon and Fiddy looked at series and movies such as The Time Tunnel, Back to the Future, The Terminator, and the Netflix hit Dark, asking what it is about such stories that make them so universally popular with audiences.
The book features an exclusive interview with Steven Moffat, showrunner on Doctor Who, arguably the greatest time traveller ever to hit the small screen.
Destination Time Travel has already proved a big hit with fans of the time travel genre and is now set to be key reading for all film buffs and anyone interested in the cinematic medium.
