47pp., chiefly color illustrations ; 33 cm. Folio size staplebound booklet in stiff wraps. Essentially a marketing give-away for potential Fortune advertisers consisting almost entirely of 32 full color plates (17 single page and 15 double page) of abstract graphic designs by Leo Lionni. The booklet is enclosed in a 3 part folding enclosing cover which has a short statement of purpose on inside of its upper panel ("This is an example of Fortune's high standards of graphic excellence.") and a plate by plate listing of "brief interpretations of each design's intent" on the inside of its facing lower panel and finally, a statement of intent by Leo Lionni himself on the verso of the lower panel, "One purpose of this book is to remind advertisers that design is a seemingly inexhaustable source of visual excitement". (Lionni was Fortune magazine's Art Director at the time). Book condition: booklet is detached from enclosing cover folder, light toning, small creases, tiny closed tears, general signs of handling mostly to covers; very good at least. Lacking the invariably dirty chipped slipcase. Seller Inventory # 004848
