Designing for weaving is a process that synthesises three areas of design: technical, aesthetic and personal. This book explains and explores the design potential in each of the three areas of woven design. The technical aspects of of woven design are developed in chapters 1-4; aesthetic factors of colour and design - as they apply to weaving are discussed in chapters 5-7; the personal part of design is presented as a phiolosophy in chapter 8. There are 2 topics related to weaving that have NOT been presented in this book : firstly, it has been assumed that the reader is able to warp a loom, and is familiar with its mechanics; secondly, the techniques for finger manipulated weaves, such as tapestry and rya, have not been discussed.
