About the Author
Alessandro Melis, architect, artist, and curator, holds the distinguished position of the first Endowed Chair Professor at the New York Institute of Technology.In 2021, he was appointed curator of the Italian Pavilion at La Biennale di Venezia by the Italian Ministry of Culture.Since 2020, he has also served as an Ambassador of Italian Design for the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.Melis has made significant contributions to research, as evidenced by over 200 publications, numerous citations in leading journals, and keynote lectures at prestigious institutions including the University of Cambridge, MoMA New York, the China Academy of Art, the Italian Cultural Institutes in London and New York, the Italian Trade Agency, and TEDx. He is the founding director of Heliopolis 21, an international architecture firm with offices in Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, and Mexico. His work has been documented in several monographs, including Heliopolis 21 (Skira, 2022) and Alessandro Melis. Utopic Real World (D Editore, 2021). Among his most notable projects are the Stella Maris Hospital, Italy’s only facility dedicated exclusively to children with autism, and the ongoing construction of the Trentino Fair. His designs for the Polo della Memoria SM1938—a university hub located at the Memorial of the Shoah in Pisa—and the Municipal Library of Peccioli have been recognized by the Ministry of Culture as among the most significant examples of Italian architecture produced after 1945.
Marco Pelle is an internationally acclaimed choreographer and the resident artist of the New York Theatre Ballet. He has worked with stars of the global dance world, including Alessandra Ferri, Roberto Bolle, Isabelle Ciaravola, Luciana Paris, and Stephen Hanna. His choreographies have graced the stages of some of the world’s most prestigious institutions, such as the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing and the iconic Guggenheim Museum in New York. In the U.S., Pelle is recognized as one of the choreographers of Pose, the groundbreaking Golden Globe-nominated series by Ryan Murphy. In Italy, he is widely known for Passage, the iconic short film directed by Fabrizio Ferri and starring Roberto Bolle and Polina Semionova, which opened the 70th Venice Film Festival and went viral worldwide. A Fellow at Bocconi University in Milan since 2017, he teaches Performing Arts Management and founded GuiDance, an inclusive dance program. He also curates Off the Record, a series of public dialogues with major cultural figures including Geppi Cucciari, Ermal Meta, and Alessandra Ferri. In 2023, he became the first dancer/ choreographer appointed Accademico Olimpico, since the foundation of Accademia Olimpica in 1555. He choreographed for Rai Uno’s Ballo in Bianco and created a new ballet for the Teatro alla Scala’s foundation’s yearly gala, inspired by Statuesque, his acclaimed tribute to Antonio Canova. In September 2024, he returned to Roberto Bolle – Ballo in Bianco on Rai Uno, joining actress Cristiana Capotondi, who hosted the segment, to provide historical insights on the art of dance. His most recent choreography, Safe From Sleep, has been performed in the United States, Italy, England, and Malaysia, becoming one of his most widely danced works. In March 2025, he was once again a guest on Splendida Cornice, directed by Geppi Cucciari, with his piece Through The Frame.

Right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer you can withdraw from the contract in accordance with the following. Consumer means any natural person who is acting for purposes which are outside his trade, business, craft or profession.
Information regarding the right of withdrawal
Statutory right to withdraw
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the last good or the last lot or piece.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". We will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a withdrawal on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back, or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to Brook Bookstore On Demand, Bristol, United Kingdom, +39 3485885209, without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your withdrawal from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
Exceptions to the right of withdrawal
The right of withdrawal does not apply to:
- The delivery of newspapers, journals or magazines with the exception of subscription contracts; and
- The supply of digital content which is not supplied on a tangible medium (e.g. on a CD or DVD) if you accepted when you placed your order that we could start to deliver it, and that you could not withdraw once delivery had started.
