About the Author: Author, Andy Zdon, (Geology of the Las Vegas Region; Desert Summits: A Climbing & Hiking Guide to California and Southern Nevada) climbed his first desert peak, Telescope, in the winter of 1981, and has been climbing desert peaks ever since. His work as a professional hydrogeologist has taken him to many of the desert locations described in this book, including the Inyo Mountains, Providence Mountains, New York Mountains, Lanfair Valley, and the Lower Virgin River Valley. Zdon graduated in geology from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. A passionate collector of books on mountaineering and the history of the desert southwest, Zdon consults in hydrology, geology and engineering geology. He lives at the foot of White Mountain Peak, America's highest desert summit.
