Add to basketCards. The Desert Fox Oracle, contains 30 cards. It is an effective and fast moving oracle, that will help and assist you to gain clarity and insight into concerns such as finances, work, health, relationships, spiritual enquiry, etc. There is no hard and fast rule on how to read the Oracle. A quiet area is best and burning some good quality incense adds to that special magic touch and atmosphere. To do readings, you will need a table or a desk, which you could dress with a special cloth, made of velvet or other good quality material, or a small rug, that you should use specifically for this purpose. When not in use, your cards should be kept in their own pouch or box. It is up to you if you also wish to wrap them in a silk square, preferably of a rich, deep, devotional colour, such as turquoise, lapis lazuli or cerulean blue, purple, emerald or papyri green, ochre, orange or gold. You will decide whether, when doing readings for others, if yourself alone will handle the cards, do all the shuffling, cutting, selecting, and laying out, or if you will let your clients do some, or all of these steps as well. Whichever way, it is a matter of personal preference and what works best for you.Do look out for any cards that jump out of the deck, and display these straight away, as their message will be of particular importance. If 2 cards stick together as they come, arrange them both side by side, and interpret them as a duo. "The Desert Fox Oracle", does not use reversals, as with the traditional Tarot. Each card should be dealt upright. Shuffle the whole deck well and cut. Getting on with the layout, take the number of cards you need straight from the top of the stack, or fan the entire deck face down in front of you, and do your selection. Following next are the details of three spreads and their usage. The ancient Egyptians divided the year into 36 weeks of ten days duration, hence "decan" from Greek "ten". The iconography of the decans predates that of all famous European books of magick such as the Testament of Solomon or the Goetia. But one thing all these spirits have in common is their malign character. Each decan is ruled over by particular stars, rising in succession over the course of a year. These can be observed rising on the eastern horizon just before dawn.
You and I were born into this intricate web of stars. The 36 decans are in effect an earlier Egyptian equivalent of the later Greek system of twelve zodiacal signs. The twelve culminating decans are also the equivalent of the twelve "houses".
All information needed to use this calendar either in ritual or for prognostications is included, as well as an ephemeris as well as information on how it is compiled, in case you want to make your own.
I'm not sure anyone has previously called these personifications of the decans, demons, but that is what they plainly are. To use the title of a recent groundbreaking academic conference, these are "demon things" and there are actually far more images of them in ancient Egyptian iconography than there are the well known deities.
