Dee-Jan's younger brother is now 11 years old and must leave the village school but there is no work for him in the village and as he is very clever, Dee-Jan decides he must continue his education in the city. But that will cost more money than the family has and so Dee-Jan decides to earn extra money working at the elephant camp. However, the journey to the nature park is dangerous and a disaster strikes that is beyond Dee-Jan's control. An amazing and heart felt period follows but eventually Dee-Jan is forced into a life or death decision and makes it to the elephant camp.
