About the Author: Born and raised in New Jersey, Ed always displayed awide range of interests in both the arts and sciences. His first real passionhowever was ham radio.¿ Building his ownrig, by age twenty his second identity became W2MLH. During World War II heserved in the army air corps and subsequently worked as a civilian electronicsinstructor for the military. During his thirty-year career in engineering, hisdesigns in flow measurement found their way on board NASA's Mercury and Geminimissions and onto the Polaris submarine.¿He has published several articles on cryogenics, holds five patents inrelated fields and has founded a manufacturing company.In his spare time, Ed pursued his interests insailing, oil and watercolor painting and spelunking, where he has contributedto the mapping of several wild caves with the Explorers club.In 1983 Ed and his wife Evelyn retired to Floridawhere he authored a newspaper column, pursued his interest in horticulture andprepared a second book of short stories.Ed passed away on July 20, 2000 and his final wishwas to publish this book.¿"We are acompilation of all the people we have ever met and of all the things we haveheard or read.¿ The degree of ourmaturity depends on our ability to discern truth from falsehood and to avoidextremism in all forms, then live true to our beliefs."¿¿¿ EJB
