Part of the popular "Decision Making In..." series, this book consists of approximately 250 chapters divided into 16 sections (see list below). Overall organization follows an organ-system approach. The focus of each chapter is its algorithm, which outlines the decision-making process the doctor should follow in diagnosing and/or treating a specific condition. Brief text appears on the page facing each algorithm, providing additional explanation or detail about key decision points on the algorithm. All chapters from the first edition have been thoroughly updated. A few new topics are covered (a final table of contents is now in preparation), and a few from the first edition have been discarded because of their diminished importance to the field. The overall size of the book remains the same.
