The small book for big change.
Your day is going to be decided. The question is who will decide it.
The Decided Day is a three-minute morning practice for creating faster change and growth in whatever you want to improve.
Whether you want to become more patient, lead more effectively, grow a business, or change something in your life, change eventually comes down to what you do today.
Most people don’t start their day. They get pulled into it.
Meetings, the inbox, the latest problem, and other people’s priorities start deciding what gets your attention and what gets pushed aside. By ten o’clock you’ve been busy for hours without deciding a thing.
You don’t need another complicated productivity system or morning routine. You need a simple way to decide your day before it decides for you.
It takes only three minutes:
Who will I be today.
What matters most.
What will I do today.
And the order matters.
Most people begin with what they need to do. The Decided Day begins with who you will be. Changing what you do starts with deciding who you will be while doing it.
In the book, you’ll meet a store owner who was patient and respectful the moment he walked through his own front door, and harsh with his employees all day long. He didn’t lack the capacity to be different. He’d never decided to be that man at work.
From there, you decide what truly matters and the specific action you will take. Three decisions made each morning give you a practical way to close the gap between what you intend to do and what you actually do.
You’ll learn how to:
-
Decide who you will be before the day starts deciding for you.
-
Tell the difference between what is demanding your attention and what actually deserves it.
-
Define actions specific enough that you know whether you did them or you didn’t.
-
Notice when old habits, distractions, and urgency are pulling you off course.
-
Take back a day that has gone off track by deciding what you will do next.
This is a book that's designed to be used, not just read. After eight short chapters introduce the practice, fourteen guided mornings help you put it to work in your own life.
Doug Fleener brings more than thirty years of leadership experience to The Decided Day, including serving as a CEO and director of retail at Bose.
The Decided Day isn’t about completely changing your life overnight. It’s about discovering how much faster change and growth can happen when you stop waiting for someday and decide what you will do today.
You’re always one decision from a different day.
