Kenji "Oni" Tanaka was a legend in Fukuoka's underworld. As a top former enforcer for a powerful Yakuza family, his name alone was a weapon, his demonic back tattoo a symbol of the brutal, unwavering discipline that made him the most feared man in the city. But he walked away from it all, trading a life of violence for the quiet, anonymous toil of a construction worker, burying the ghost of the Oni under a fragile peace. He thought his past was dead.
He was wrong.
In the rain-slicked, neon-drenched streets of Fukuoka, a new kind of modern gangster has risen to power. Goro Kuno is a charismatic and sadistic viper leading a ruthless faction that spits on the old honor code. His methods are not business; they are public executions and psychological terror designed to shatter the old world and build a new empire from its ashes. When Goro's war spills into the civilian world and targets the one person Kenji swore to protect-his sister-the ghost of the Oni is dragged back into the fight.
Framed for a crime he didn't commit, Kenji becomes a pariah in the world he once ruled. To save his sister from a high stakes kidnapping, he must become a one man army, waging a solo war against an enemy with limitless resources and no morality. This is a Japanese noir world of relentless chases, brutal combat, and impossible odds, where every shadow holds a new enemy and every ally is a potential traitor. Now, he is a ghost in a city that wants him dead.
This hardboiled action epic is a visceral revenge thriller that never lets up. To save the last piece of his family, this anti hero protagonist must fully embrace the demon he tried to bury. But in a war against a man who has no honor, can he afford to keep his own? Or will he have to burn down his entire world to protect the last good thing in it?
