Item description from seller

"DEATH DELIVERS A POSTCARD" by Judson P. Philips with its original dust jacket. 1941 1st edition thus (with "Triangle Books Edition Published November 1941" stated on the copyright page); Triangle Books; New York. This is the second book in Philips's "Old Towne Detective Agency" series featuring private investigator Carole Trevor and her wealthy, adventurer ex-husband Maxwell Blythe. The story follows Carole Trevor, who runs a capable detective agency gifted to her by her ex-husband, Max Blythe. Despite being divorced—partially due to Max's network of disreputable, rogue acquaintances—Carole still finds herself relying on him and his colorful contacts for assistance, much to the annoyance of her new fiancé. The duo becomes deeply embroiled in a tense blackmail and murder case. Renowned Broadway producer Chance Tempest experiences a nightmare during a late-night rehearsal at his theater when a shadowy figure scales the catwalks high above the stage and plummets to a gruesome death on the auditorium floor. Police quickly swarm the scene, and Tempest discovers a cryptic postcard clutched tightly in the dead victim's hand. The postcard's message hints at blackmail, betrayal, and a deadly secret tied directly to Tempest's glittering past. An unfinished letter found nearby reveals the victim's desperate, interrupted plea for help. Plunged into a web of suspicion, Max and Carole must navigate theater-world intrigue, jealous rivals, and hidden affairs. While the narrative reveals the identity of the culprits early on, the tension drives forward as Max chases clues, cracks wise, and calls on his loyal, street-smart rogues to protect Carole and catch the killers before they strike again. Condition: Some very light staining on the front and back covers, and at the top edge of the spine. Sharp cover corners. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages.
