Do you want your child to clean their room without being asked? Do you want them to feel the quiet powerful pride of doing something hard completely by themselves — not for a reward, not after three reminders, but because they decided to?
You've reminded them. You've negotiated. You've threatened to donate everything in a bin bag. And still — the floor disappears under a layer of clothes, toys and things that have no name. Because every reminder, every reward, every consequence teaches your child one thing: someone else cares about this more than I do.
This children's book about cleaning up and responsibility changes that completely.
I Did It: The Day Chloe Cleaned Her Room is the children's room cleaning and responsibility picture book that finally gets it right — not by lecturing, not by rewarding, but by showing your child exactly what intrinsic motivation feels like from the inside. This children's book about tidying up and doing hard things burns one truth into every child who reads it: the proudest feeling in the world is doing it yourself — completely, thoroughly, without anyone asking.
Meet Chloe. Six years old. A room so messy she can't find her favourite toy. One morning — without anyone asking, without any reward waiting — she decides today is the day. It's harder than she expected. She gets tired. She wants to stop. She keeps going anyway. One corner at a time. One pile at a time. One completely independent decision at a time.
When she's done she finds her favourite toy, fills a box with toys to donate and stands in the doorway of a room that is completely, entirely, beautifully clean.
She did that. Nobody else.
On the last page Chloe looks directly at your child:
"It wasn't easy. But I did it. And now I know I can do hard things."
What your child gains from this children's room cleaning and responsibility book:
- The intrinsic motivation to clean their room independently — the most powerful children's responsibility and chores lesson any children's tidying up picture book can deliver
- The generous discovery that cleaning up includes giving away — the most meaningful children's room cleaning and generosity moment in any chores picture book for kids
- One sentence from this children's book about doing hard things and responsibility they carry forever: I did it — and now I know I can do hard things
Part of the children's responsibility and chores book series — bold empowering children's chores and responsibility picture books about cleaning rooms, setting tables, doing laundry, making beds, feeding pets and washing dishes. The complete children's responsibility chores and doing hard things picture book series for ages 3–9.
Perfect for: Children aged 4–7 ● Parents searching for a gentle effective children's room cleaning responsibility book ● Building intrinsic motivation without reward charts or reminders ● The most empowering children's chores responsibility and tidying up gift any parent can give.
Scroll up. She cleaned her room herself. This children's room cleaning and responsibility picture book makes sure your child discovers exactly what that proudest feeling feels like.

Store description
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
