232 page memoir of the war in the Pacific - includes INDEX. Centers on the development of the Douglas Dauntless the SBD aircraft. Many b/w (sepia) photographs assist text. Some sea search patterns are shown in chapter 7. Learn more about : John Northrop, Marine Air Group One, Japanese Zeroes, Battle of the Eastern Solomons, Major Elmer Glidden, and Scouting Squadron Six. Cond : boards are buff coloured with black lettering - spine only. End-papers are light brown maps of the North Pacific (front) and North Atlantic Oceans (back). D.J. is similarly brown with black lettering. Front cover illustration (wraps-around) is of an SBD over Gaudalcanal in 1943. D.J .has a nasty split at flap hinge and minor edge wear. Book is tight, bright and clean - no names, no marks. Excellent reference. Quote (p. 123) : " And so it went for the rest of the day.
