Book conditions is very good. Spine intact. Front and back cover. Text body clean except ex owner on the 4th page top right. Dust jacket good ,has General minimal wear for age. Over all clean book . Heavy book, will incur extra charges for oversea postage Pages 280. There are oil painting and water colour by Augustus Earle and Conrad Martens, the artist who took part in the voyage. There is also a superb series of illuminating and strictly relevant illustration in colour and monochrome. From early 19th century prints and drawings. In 1831, Charles Darwin, age 23 and fresh from Cambridge was offered the post of naturalist on board HMS Beatle, a ten gun bring sent by the Admiral on a surveying voyage around the world. The voyage lasted 5 years, during which time the Beatle visit Argentina, Brazil, Tierra del Diego, Tahiti, New Zealand and and Australia and other countries and island on the way.
