Currently there is no charity worldwide focused on Seasonal affective disorder (SAD). There are organisations that support but they also support other conditions such as Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) or Rethink. None are focused on SAD. The NHS UK estimate that around 2 million people in the UK and 12 million people across northern Europe experience SAD every year. Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a type of depression that comes and goes in a seasonal pattern. SAD is sometimes known as "winter depression" because the symptoms are usually more apparent and more severe during the winter. Some people with SAD may have symptoms during the summer. Symptoms of SAD vary from person to person. You may not experience a whole range of symptoms, and they may come in waves as the weather continues to progressively change. Symptoms include Persistent low mood, Low interest in socialising, Guilt, Feeling more stressed than usual, Lowered libido, Concentration issues, Irritation and short temper, Disinterest in enjoyable things and activities, Feelings of despair and worthlessness amongst other symptoms.
