Paperback. In the sultry shadows of 19th-century New Orleans, a city steeped in secrets and superstition, a mysterious young woman named Dara appears on the doorstep of a secluded home. Her arrival is as inexplicable as it is intoxicating, and for Samantha, a sheltered daughter, Dara's beauty and charm awaken desires she cannot name. But the Mississippi mists conceal more than moonlight and magnolias. As Samantha falls deeper under Dara's spell, the line between love and dread blurs, and whispers of something predatory slither through the streets and swamps alike.Darian Vos's Dara is a haunting reimagining of Sheridan Le Fanu's gothic classic Carmilla, transplanting its eerie tale of obsession, desire, and vampiric hunger to the decadent, decaying heart of New Orleans.
