Fair overall; vol 1 has both hinges starting; vol 2 has front hinge starting; both volumes have cocked spines, rubbing/bumping/fraying to extremities, some tearing of cloth along the front hinge, soil/stains/scuffs to cloth, soil/scuffs to page edges (but only as seen with the book closed), and foxing to endpapers; vol 1 has a small dampstain at fore edge of pages that affects about the first 50 pages, where paper is wrinkled but not noticeably stained. Nothing is missing, and pages are clean and unmarked except as noted. No dust jackets. The author was editor in 1890-1930 of Bien, a Danish-language newspaper published in San Francisco from 1882 to 2018. Seller Inventory # 705
