Item description from seller

Large Octavo. Publisher's heavy grain oatmeal cloth with a green and black title label to spine. Dustjacket. [xiv]; 566pp. Strong and bright, trifling wear to extremities; internally clean, illustrated throughout; in a strong, priceclipped example of the dustjacket with some very light soiling and wear to the extremities. A very good, clean copy indeed. The first English language translation of Frisch's groundbreaking research into the behavior and culture of Honey Bees, one of the Earth's most critical keystone species. Frisch discovered not only that bees see in color and can navigate via the sun, but also that they have personal affinities for certain plants and flowers, and can communicate vital data like nearby food sources or threats to hive mates through a very specific language of dance and gyration.
