In regard to the three brothers, viz.: John, Thomas and Samuel, my authority is this, Savage in his Genealogical Dictionary, page 4th, says that, 'john Damon, and his si ter Hannah, were first to reach this country from England, about the year 1629. They set tled in Scituate. About four years after their arrival, these three brothers came over to their Uncle Gilson, who was their guardian.' This statement is founded upon records at the 'damon Mansion,' in Reading. Relying upon this authority, the Damons of Scituate and of Reading, originally belonged to the same family before immigrating to America, although the Damon family of Scituate, came from the county of Kent, a d the other families came from Reading, England, and originally settled in Reading, Mass. Eaton in his history of Reading, says, that Thomas was perhaps a brother of John.
