Black soft leather binding with Ritter / 1938 on the front cover in gilt; AEG; 2 5/8 inches x 4 inches; [un-numbered page of general information and calendars for 1937 and 1938], [blank pages for daily entries and telephone numbers, 54 pages advertising dental equipment manufactured by Ritter. Pencil and ink notations only for the last two days in 1937 and January 1, 1938; all the other diary and telephone number pages are blank. The front section contains a print of the Ritter plant; the Dentist’s Creed; Secretaries of State Dental Examining Boards; Secretaries of the Provinces of Canada; States Licensing Dental Hygienists 1937; Schools Offering Training Course for Dental Hygienists; Approximate Distribution of Dentists per Capita in Each State in the United States; Population of Principal Cities of the United States and Canada; Domestic and Foreign Postage; Railroad Fares Between American Cities; and other “useful information”. The most interesting part of the booklet is the 54-page illustrated section relating to the Ritter Company’s dental products. Dental supplies include text and photos for Model “B” Motor Chair; the Ritter Foot Pump Chair; the Ritter “Junior” Chair; Models “E” and “F” Units; Ritter Models “B” and “C” Tri-Dents; Model “A” Lathe; Ritter Model “B” Shockproof X-Ray Unit; Ritter Models “C” “Hydromatic” Sterilizer; Model “B” Sterilizer; Thermo-Water Syringe Reservoir and Heater; ; Single-Cylinder Air Compressor; Ritter Clusterlite and “Dualite”; Ritter Model “C” Engine; Ritter Model “B” “Swinging” Cuspidor; Rest and Relief Stool; the Clark Chart; several books on aspects of dentistry; and American and Canadian Distributors of Ritter Equipment. It also lists the eruption and shedding times of a person’s deciduous and permanent teeth. The inside back cover includes another 1938 12-month calendar for easy reference. The Ritter Dental Company was founded in 1887 by Frank J. Ritter (1844-1915), a Bavarian native who had immigrated to the United States. Ritter established a parlor furniture manufacturing company in Rochester, NY in the 1870s. He wisely invested in Dewell Stuck’s patent for a new mechanism that would raise and lower dental chairs, and after several years of prototypes, his company came out with the New Columbia Chair. That chair was very successful and was exhibited at the 1893 Columbian World’s Fair in Chicago. Ritter closed his parlor furnishing company and expanded the output of the dental company, including introducing an electrical motor that replaced the old foot pump. By the early 20th century, Ritter’s dental company was one of the most successful in the world. His grandson, Frank Ritter Shumway continued the company until it merged in 1965 with another company that eventually became known as Sybron Corporation. If you are a consumer you can withdraw from the contract in accordance with the following. Consumer means any natural person who is acting for purposes which are outside his trade, business, craft or profession.

Statutory right to withdraw
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the last good or the last lot or piece.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". We will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a withdrawal on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back, or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to Cultural Images, Portland, Oregon, U.S.A., +1 503-297-5892, without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your withdrawal from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
Exceptions to the right of withdrawal
The right of withdrawal does not apply to:
- The delivery of newspapers, journals or magazines with the exception of subscription contracts; and
- The supply of digital content which is not supplied on a tangible medium (e.g. on a CD or DVD) if you accepted when you placed your order that we could start to deliver it, and that you could not withdraw once delivery had started.
Shipping terms
Orders usually ship within 2 to 4 business days. Shipping costs are based on books weighing 2.2 LB, or 1 KG. If your book order is heavy or oversized, we may contact you to let you know extra shipping is required.
