Printed by Alabaster, Passmore & Sons, London and Maidstone. 24 + (3)pp including several b/w photos and diagrams, and an exhibition floor plan. Very good. Very rare - just 3 locations found, of which 2 on Worldcat and Jisc (BL, Science Museum, IWM). Chapman Pincher (1914-2014) was at this time Science Reporter at the Daily Express. The paper had first approached him during WW2 for information about an explosive developed while he was researching rockets in the Royal Armoured Corps, and recruited him when he left the Army. He subsequently became interested in military intelligence and espionage. This guide to an exhibition organised by Pincher, describes the science behind the atomic bomb; atomic bombs in action (New Mexico, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Bikini atoll); If Britain were atom bombed; and Atomic energy in peace. There are descriptions of the scientists behind the bomb, the British Atomic Energy Project (including a map of where research is being done), and a glossary. Some of Pincher's statements (eg about uranium produced under the British Atomic Energy Project, "None of it will be used for making bombs" - p24) were to prove highly controversial, with the US and UK governments keen to promote the benefits of nuclear power to divert attention away from their primary objective of developing nuclear weapons.
