The fighters in this book were the guys Johnston was talking about. Guys like Terrible Terry McGovern, the Brooklyn Terror...Rock-fisted Stanley Ketchel, the Michigan Assassin...Sam Langford, the Boston Tar Baby...Mighty Atom Jimmy Wilde...Jack Dempsey, the Manassa Mauler...Sweet as Sugar Ray Robinson...Iron-fisted Rocky Marciano. They all wore dynamite gloves when they went to work, and some of their explosive exploits are related in the following pages.

About the Author: Author John Jarrett has been a student of boxing since 1946, and has been writing about the sport since 1951 when his first article appeared in Boxing News. He still writes for the 'trade paper' today. His work has appeared in Boxing World, Boxing Weekly, International Boxing and since 1988 in the British Boxing Board of Control Yearbook. In 1978 he was appointed Northern Area Secretary for the British Boxing Board of Control, a position he still holds today.
