Anthology of plays, tales & essays from German playwright & author Wolfgang Borchert (1921 - 1947) whose work was strongly influenced by his experience of dictatorship & his service in the Wehrmacht during World War II, and are examples of the Trümmerliteratur movement in postwar Germany. His most famous work is the drama "Draussen vor der Tür (The Man Outside)", written in 1946. which he wrote soon after the end of World War II. Volume, besides the title piece, includes An Diesem Dienstag, Die Hundeblume, and (most importantly) Generation ohne Abschied, among other selections. 139 pgs with Afterword by Heinrich Boll (1917 - 1985), one of Germany's foremost post-World War II writers, and winner of the 1972 Nobel Prize for Literature.
