Seller: Edinburgh Books, Edinburgh, United Kingdom
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First Edition. 1964. xxvi, 510pp. B&W illustrations. Illustrated endpapers. "This is a unique book. By means of inexhaustible investigation and infinite ingenuity Sir Eugen has fitted together a piece-by-piece history of inter-related naval battles - Coronel and The Falklands in the First World War, the Battle of the Plate in the Second - while the remarkable epilogues bring the interest up to the present day. His sources are literally world-wide; as one is taken through the famous occasions - and behind the scenes of action to the diplomatic desks - the passages come, in day-to-day chronological sequence, sometimes from previously published books (most of which have been long out of print, others of which have never been available in the English language); sometimes from unpublished materials (letters from participants, etc.); sometimes from the British side, sometimes from the German." Millington-Drake was British Minister in Montevideo at the time of the battle. Shelf wear to the unclipped dust jacket. Small (1cm) closed tear to top of jacket spine. Light shelf wear boards and edges. Both book and jacket are otherwise in very good condition. All contents are tight and clean. There are no inscriptions. PLEASE NOTE: Heavy book so extra will be needed for shipping to non-UK customers. Seller Inventory # MilNaval47
