Garro comenzó a publicar sus grandes obras narrativas y dramáticas cuando emergió la fama del Boom Latinoamericano, se iniciaba la gran producción de la Nueva Narrativa Hispanoamericana y adquiría gran popularidad el Realismo Mágico. De ese luminoso tiempo, figuran dos obras claves: La novela Los recuerdos del porvenir (1963) y el cuentario La semana de colores (1964). Ambos textos fueron producidos durante su primera etapa de escritura literaria.
El presente volumen examina varias obras literarias de la segunda fase creativa de Garro posterior a 1968. Incluye ocho análisis textuales y contextuales sobre la colección de cuentos Andamos huyendo Lola (1980) y las novelas Testimonios sobre Mariana (1981), Reencuentro de personajes (1982), La casa junto al río (1983), Busca mi esquela (1996), Primer amor (1996), Un corazón en un bote de basura (1996) y Un traje rojo para un duelo (1996).
Poniatowska publicó la novela Lilus Kikus en 1954, pero su periodo inicial de gran eclosión creativa coincide con Garro en la década de los sesenta, justo cuando dio a conocer la novela testimonial Hasta no verte Jesús mío (1969) y la crónica La noche de Tlatelolco (1971). Sus numerosas publicaciones han ubicado a la franco-mexicana como parte de la Literatura Testimonial, el Post-Boom, la Nueva Narrativa Femenina y la Nueva Narrativa Hispanoamericana. Lo cierto es que varias de sus novelas y cuentos pueden verse como parte del Post-Boom por su uso de estructuras tradicionales, su proyección hacia la cultura popular y por su orientación a representar las realidades políticas y sociales, según la descripción del investigador británico Phillip Swanson (87).
Se encuadran en la presente colección tres exámenes literarios sobre las novelas Hasta no verte Jesús mío y La “Flor de Lis” (1988) y el cuento “El recado”. Es difícil abarcar la voluminosa y rica obra narrativa, ensayística y periodística de Poniatowska. Quedan pendientes de análisis otros textos de ella para un futuro libro expositivo.
Así pues, “Las dos Elenas”: Garro y Poniatowska (2025) contiene once sencillas reseñas literarias sobre ocho obras narrativas de Elena Garro y tres del mismo género de Elena Poniatowska. Tales novelas y cuentos de la escritora poblana forman parte de la segunda etapa creativa que surgió a partir de 1968 y estuvo marcada por su largo exilio de tierras mexicanas y por su residencia itinerante en los Estados Unidos y Europa (España y Francia). Los tres textos de la novelista franco-mexicana pertenecen al periodo que va de la década de los sesenta a los ochenta.
La frase “Las dos Elenas” hace referencia indirectamente al famoso cuento “Las dos Elenas” de Carlos Fuentes que aparece en la colección Cantar de ciegos (1964). Se trata de un mero préstamo lingüístico con un nuevo significado referencial. Finalmente, “Las dos Elenas”: Garro y Poniatowska sale a la luz pública gracias a la extrema gentileza de Amazon Books Editors, mi casa editorial.

Returns Policy
We ask all customers to contact us for authorisation should they wish to return their order. Orders returned without authorisation may not be credited.
If you wish to return, please contact us within 14 days of receiving your order to obtain authorisation.
Returns requested beyond this time will not be authorised.
Our team will provide full instructions on how to return your order and once received our returns department will process your refund.

Right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer you can withdraw from the contract in accordance with the following. Consumer means any natural person who is acting for purposes which are outside his trade, business, craft or profession.

Statutory right to withdraw
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the last good or the last lot or piece.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". We will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a withdrawal on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back, or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to PBShop.store US, Springfield Gardens, New York, U.S.A., +44 1285 712917, without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your withdrawal from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
Exceptions to the right of withdrawal
The right of withdrawal does not apply to:
- The delivery of newspapers, journals or magazines with the exception of subscription contracts; and
- The supply of digital content which is not supplied on a tangible medium (e.g. on a CD or DVD) if you accepted when you placed your order that we could start to deliver it, and that you could not withdraw once delivery had started.
