Item description from seller

Early edition. With frontispiece and five plates, all from engravings on steel. Small 8vo, in the publisher's original bright blue cloth embossed in blind all over, the upper cover with large central gilt decoration and lettering, the spine lettered and lavishly gilt decorated. iv, 180, [12 catalogue] pp. A surprisingly fresh and fine copy, the cloth bright and clean with no fading and just a little general mellowing or trivial signs of age, the interior fresh and clean with no foxing and seemingly unread. ONE OF ELIZABETH COATES MOST POPULAR BOOKS. Ms. Coates was an accomplished author of Christian fiction and short stories; many of which were published by the Religious Tract Society. Her works remain pleasant to read as they feature timeless charm and lessons which never go out of style.
