Add to basketDido and Aeneas – Vocal Score by Henry Purcell is an expertly edited edition of one of the most celebrated works in English Baroque opera, designed for advanced singers, conductors, students, and teachers. This vocal score provides the complete opera, including all three acts and a reconstructed original prologue, presented in standard notation for voice alongside the full operatic score. It is an ideal resource for conservatory training, ensemble rehearsals, academic study, and historically informed performance preparation.
This edition captures Purcell’s masterful compositional skill with lively dances, emotionally charged arias, and dramatic recitatives. Singers and directors benefit from its carefully considered editorial decisions, offering variants and performing choices that support expressive interpretation and ensemble awareness. Working through the score helps develop vocal technique, rhythm precision, reading skills, and performance confidence, while deepening understanding of Baroque opera style.
The vocal score is thoughtfully prepared to serve both educational and performance contexts. It is suitable for lessons, rehearsals, auditions, and staged productions, making it a reliable reference for students, teachers, and performers seeking a high-quality, practical edition. The clear layout, engaging musical content, and authentic editorial process make this edition a lasting addition to any music library.
