Octavo, viii, 447 pp. Fair; bound in contemporary leather with significant rubbing and wear to covers, spine edges and corners, top of spine edge torn; binding tight; text block has areas of discoloration; deep age-toning and foxing to pages; previous owner name in ink on inside front pastedown "Jabex Gwinnup," his son's name in ink "Alfred Gwinnup" on ffep and inscribed in ink on ffep "Jn. C. Johnson Dec. 18th 1855 from his friend Alfred Gwinnup;" informational card pasted onto ffep explaining family history; MF consignment. From typewritten note on ffep: "Dr. Jabex Gwinnup, 1773-1843, was the first doctor to practice medicine at Deleward Station, N. J., and was there many years having a large practice. His son, Alfred Gwinnup, lived at Walnut Valley, near the Paulins Kill. The doctor built a large home at Deleward, which was afterward known for many years as the Hemingway House, and it is standing still, in 1938." Dr. John C.
