Vols vary in main pagination : viii+ 715, viii+714, viii+1058, Vol.2 has 2 pp pub.list at end, Vols I and II pub. 1891, Vol.I 'Second Edition', rest 1st eds, all have num. text figs numbered seperately by entry. Coverage: Vol I A -Dy, Vol.II Eaux - Nux Vol III O - Z., all have marbled endpapers and edges, binding is quarter fine-stippled leather boards with large stippled gilt-lettered spines. Each has lib. plate of 'The Guardians of the Standard of Wrought Plate in Birmingham' to front pastedown and the innocuous small (15 mm.) round stamp of the Birmingham Assay Office Library to bottom recto front blank fly leaf. Conditions slightly vary: Vol I has some rippling centre top edge region diminishing from blank fly through to c. leaf 35/36. Textures quarter leather red cloth covers, top spine of this vol. rubbed, otherwise clean but all Volumes have spine faded from dark red almost to orange and slight joint surface rubbing; Vol II has gutter opening after front blank fly, covers clean and barely worn, gutter opening does not seem to have affected tightness, massive Vol III has front blank fly almost detached (will refix when ordered) with following gutter opening exposing netting, feels just slightly shaken, again covers clean but slight spine end rubbing. Total weight c. 6 kg. so allow for heavy additional postage. Despite various faults this remains an attractive set and I think VG- rating fair for this 130 year old publication given its size and vulnerability. Seller Inventory # 011478
