Neuware - 'Cyril Scott: Composer, Poet and Philosopher' is an insightful study of one of the most intriguing and multifaceted figures in early 20th-century British culture. Written by the noted musicologist Arthur Eaglefield Hull, this work provides a comprehensive examination of Cyril Scott's artistic output and intellectual pursuits. Often referred to as the 'English Debussy,' Scott was a pioneer of musical modernism, and this volume delves into the harmonic innovations and exotic influences that define his compositions.Beyond his musical achievements, the book explores Scott's significant contributions as a poet and his deep engagement with occult philosophy and theosophy. Hull illustrates how Scott's spiritual beliefs informed his creative process, creating a unique synthesis between the arts and metaphysical thought. Through detailed analysis of his major works and artistic philosophy, the text captures the essence of a man who sought to push the boundaries of conventional expression. This scholarly yet accessible volume serves as an essential resource for those interested in the history of British music, the development of modernism, and the intersection of mysticism and the arts. It offers a vivid portrait of a creator whose legacy encompasses not only the concert hall but also the worlds of literature and philosophy. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
