Prynne was critical of Laud. Even though King Charles I admitted that he put too much trust in Laud, and Laud s actions helped create divisions in the Church, Heylyn still came to the defense of Laud. Most known for his Cosmographia, Peter Heylin writes this defense of Laud against Prynne s and Laud s execution. This account of Laud s life and work depicts Laud s attempt to enforce conformity within the Church of England, but the King s decrees and commands did little to help the church, in fact, it created more of a divide. This work serves as a defense not only for Laud, but for the King s actions and policies as well.
