Five volumes folio (44 x 28cm), published in parts in 418 numbers at 6d each and then at £11, the work being originally published in 1728 in two volumes. The final & fullest enlarged edition with the supplemental material by William Rees incorporated into the work, & here the final plate volume with its own title, corrigenda & addenda & plate lists plus final scientific index. 'The Cyclopaedia's impact and influence upon later generations was incalculable. It directly influenced the famous French Encyclopedie of Diderot. It stimulated the publication of the Encyclopaedia Britannica and many subsequent works.'- Walsh. Bound in contemporary tree calf, the spine in seven panels with contrasting twin labels & grecian urn designs, gilt, marbled endpapers. Some of the joints slighty cracked, and some general scuffing and light wear to the board corners, but an attractive, tight & sound set, the contents fresh and clean.
