Print on Demand. This book explores the cyanide process, a gold extraction method invented in the late 19th century. The author traces the process's development from ancient observations of the solubility of precious metals in cyanide compounds to its eventual adoption as a commercial application. Along the way, the book provides a comprehensive overview of the chemistry involved and the technical challenges that had to be overcome to make the process viable. The cyanide process revolutionized the gold mining industry, enabling the extraction of gold from ores that were previously considered uneconomical to process. Today, it remains one of the most important methods for extracting gold and silver from ores worldwide. This book offers a valuable historical perspective on the development of this important industrial process, and its insights on the chemistry and engineering challenges involved in its implementation remain relevant to modern metallurgy and mining operations. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
