The show must go on, even when the star refuses to.After years of neglect, Maple Glade's playhouse has been carefully restored, and everyone in town comes out for its grand reopening. As the lights dim and the curtain rises, the small coastal town is swept up in two hours of pure magic. Then, during the final curtain call, the leading man takes his last bow and simply doesn't get up.Mystery writer Jade Reed planned to just enjoy the show. But when the death is revealed as murder, and rumours of a vanished actor from sixty years ago resurface, she feels compelled to investigate. Behind the curtain, she uncovers old rivalries, hidden scandals, a missing prop crown, and a secret the town has tried to bury for fifty years.Inspector Axel Ford wishes she would let the police handle the case and give their new romance a chance to grow without another body appearing. Jade intends to step back. She really does. But in a town where everyone plays a role, telling the truth is the hardest part, and the killer still has more to reveal. Curtain Call for Murder is the third Maple Glade Mystery. It's cosy, full of twists, and heartfelt-perfect for readers who enjoy a curious heroine, a slow-building romance, and a small town where even the prettiest places hide dark secrets. When the Maple Glade Playhouse finally reopens its doors after four decades, the entire town gathers to celebrate.
But the triumphant evening ends in shock when beloved stage legend Clive Harwood collapses during the curtain call, and this time, it isn't acting.
Jade Reed, mystery writer and reluctant sleuth, witnesses the tragedy firsthand.
When whispers of foul play ripple through the town, Jade is drawn into the shadows behind the velvet curtain.
With Detective Axel Ford urging caution, Jade must navigate a tangled web of jealous understudies, ambitious starlets, and a theatre history haunted by an unsolved disappearance from 1963.
As old secrets surface and strange warnings arrive at Jade's door, she realises the past and present are colliding in Maple Glade.
Someone has waited decades for their final act, and if Jade isn't careful, she may become part of the closing scene.
In this third instalment of the Maple Glade Mysteries, Luna Duval delivers a cozy, suspenseful tale where small-town charm meets theatrical intrigue.
Perfect for fans of warm, character-driven mysteries with heart, humour, and just the right touch of danger.
Luna Duval is the pen name of a lifelong daydreamer who calls a coastal city home. When she's not lost in fantasy novels, she's writing stories about brave hearts, curious minds, and unexpected adventures.
The Crownless Quest is her debut novel, but far from her last. Luna is currently writing a cozy mystery series called Maple Glade Murder Mysteries, blending quaint village charm with clever whodunits.
Having won a short story prize in her youth, Luna finally found the courage (with a gentle nudge from her mom) to write a full novel in her late thirties. She's living proof that it's never too late to follow a dream, or chase a mischievous sprite into an enchanted forest.
