Every year, schools lose more than lesson plans-they lose the professional thinking that made those lessons meaningful.

In Curriculum Studio, veteran art educator and curriculum designer Melissa Clay Reissmann introduces a new philosophy for preserving teaching wisdom. Rather than treating curriculum as a collection of activities or pacing guides, this book reimagines curriculum as a living record of professional knowledge that grows through reflection, refinement, and experience.

Drawing on more than two decades of classroom practice, Curriculum Studio explores how educators can capture not only what they teach, but also why they teach it. Through a design-centered approach, readers are invited to think beyond isolated lessons and toward building curriculum that preserves decision-making, creativity, and instructional expertise for future generations.

Whether you are a classroom teacher, instructional coach, department chair, curriculum leader, or school administrator, this book offers a thoughtful framework for creating curriculum that evolves with practice rather than being rewritten from scratch.

Inside, you'll discover how to:

• View curriculum as a process of professional design rather than documentation.

• Preserve the thinking behind successful lessons, not just the lessons themselves.

• Build instructional systems that grow stronger through reflection and collaboration.

• Develop curriculum that supports continuity, innovation, and long-term professional learning.

Curriculum Studio is an invitation to rethink what curriculum can become-not simply a record of instruction, but a lasting legacy of teaching wisdom.
