Review
This book represents the proceedings of the Sixth International Conference on Mechanical Design and Production held in Cairo, Egypt, 2-4 January 1996. The volume comprises 46 papers from 28 countries throughout the world, including 14 keynote presentations.
The paper coverage is extremely wide - ranging from 'Pre-Christian technology in Alexandria' to 'Virtual reality' and from 'Rapid prototyping' to 'Guidance algorithms for homing missiles'.
The structure of the text is as follows:
Section 1 Materials processing and characterisation - eight papers.
Section 2 Constitutive modelling - four papers.
Section 3 Simulation and analysis of manufacturing processes - five papers.
Section 4 Numerical analysis of structures - four papers.
Section 5 Fracture analysis - four papers.
Section 6 Design tribology - seven papers.
Section 7 Dynamics, control and robotics - eight papers.
Section 8 New trends in industrial and manufacturing engineering - five papers.
To keep costs to a minimum, the document has been produced from author-generated 'camera-ready copy'. However, the printing and illustration are generally of a high quality.
The nature of the content makes it a worthy addition to any institutional library.
