Only 200 copies: 10 on vellum, 190 on Whatman hand-made paper, this is copy no. 171. Contains five of Franklin's facetious letters, including one to Dr. Priestley, one to the Royal Academy of Brussels, and the infamous, "Advising a Young Man as to the Selection of a Mistress." {N.B. The original ms. of this once belonged to Charles F. Gunther, of Chicago}. This edition is not cited by the introduction to this letter in vol. 3 of THE PAPERS OF BENJAMIN FRANKLIN. However, the final two letters may be even saucier, as indicated by the fact that they appear here in their original French tongue, without benefit of translation. Scarce.
