* Systems in Action - inputs and outputs, work and mechanical advantage, efficiency
and where the energy leaks, feedback, and who a system was really designed for
* Water Systems - where Earth's water actually is, watersheds, the water table,
what makes water safe to drink, and why scarcity is about place and timing
rather than amount

BUILT TO BE FINISHED
* 34 collectible badges and 139 star points, tracked on a Curiosity Passport
* A game in every chapter, plus a Family STEM Mission and one of Bot's silly
mistakes to catch
* Choose Your Path at the end of every chapter - Green, Blue or Purple. The
student picks.
* Six investigations using kitchen and recycling-bin materials, about half an
hour each
* Write-in throughout, with a full answer key and an Ontario curriculum chart

NOTHING TO BUY
Potatoes, an onion, salt, cooking oil, honey, foil, jars and coins. Three things
are worth buying and all three get used all year: two plastic syringes with
tubing, a kitchen scale, and the strongest magnifier or cheap microscope you can
manage.

Measured at a Grade 8 reading level and set in Andika, a typeface designed for
readers who are still building fluency. Aligned with the Ontario Science and
Technology Curriculum (2022); not reviewed or approved by the Ontario Ministry of
