A delightful early 20th century curio album featuring three original photographs of early 20th century propellor planes, in a smart half morocco binding. A very scarce 'Curio Album' from a man named R. L. D. Maunsell, who has provided an inscription to the front pastedown stating this.Illustrated with five curios mounted on only three of the forty-eight pages which make up this work. The remaining leaves are blank. The first curio is a clipping taken from a 1910 letter from Paris stating 'the birdman as that is what they call me at present but in other parts of the world I am called John B. Morland'. To the tail of this leaf is photographic image of a man standing in front of a Blériot-pattern monoplane, likely a Bleriot XI aircraft. Also present are two photographs of planes in the sky, alongside a clipping of a printed image of a tractor propeller plane. The final tipped in item is a 1912 cash receipt from the Marconi International Marine Communication Company, for a Mr. Noble. In a half morocco binding, with cloth covered boards. Light rubbing to back strip tail, front joint, and perimeters of front board, otherwise externally excellent. Inscription to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages lightly age toned due to paper type, with the odd spot. Five images to three pages, with leaves otherwise blank. Very Good.…
