Red & black half-title, beautiful red and black title with a center lozenge surrounded by creatures, pillars, cupids, etc. A double plate showing the leather bound codex in the Biblioteca Nacional, another double plate showing fol. 1 of the manuscript, another of fol 49, another of fol. 145, another of fol. 220 v. With pretty historiated initials throughout. A very handsome book bound in bright red cloth with brilliant gilt crown and oak leaves to the covers, spine has gilt title and publishing information, corners just a bit bowed in, spine slightly aged. Interior has old ownership name and date, laid paper with deckle edges is clean, some light occasional foxing particularly near the plates, binding is strong. In Catalan. A chivalric romance which first appeared in the late 1800s in Barcelona, supposedly from a manuscript book of the mid-1400s, although some doubt has recently been cast on that provenance.
