Item description from seller
Language: English. About The Book: History of the Sikhs (1849) by Joseph Davey Cunningham is a pioneering historical account of the Sikh people, focusing on the rise and fall of the Sikh Empire, particularly under Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Based on first-hand observations and official records, the book offers a detailed, respectful, and critical perspective on Sikh leadership and British colonial policies. Cunningham’s candid criticism of British actions, especially after the First Anglo-Sikh War, led to his dismissal from service, but his work remains a valuable historical source About The Author: Joseph Davey Cunningham (1812–1851) was a British officer and historian known for his seminal work *A History of the Sikhs* (1849). Serving in British India, he offered a detailed, sympathetic account of Sikh history.
