Paperback. Estas paginas confirman el lugar privilegiado que ocupa su nombre entre los maestros de la prosa breve de todos los tiempos.ENGLISH DESCRIPTIONOn the 30th anniversary of his death, Julio Ramon Ribeyro, one of the masters of twentieth century literature in Spanish, joins the collection Cuentos Completos in an edition prologued by Juan Gabriel Vasquez. There is nothing more cinematic than a human portrait, and at that, Ribeyros short stories are one of a kind. Fernando Leon de Aranoa Composed throughout four decades, Julio Ramon Ribeyros short fiction, which the author himself entitled The Mutes Word, displays a series of registers that covers the spheres of fantasy, society, philosophy, and introspective memory to evoke his European youth and his childhood in Miraflores, in his native Lima. Though many of his characters are victims of disillusionment or failure, one of the markers of his imaginary, the truth is his short stories transcend the topic of defeat and recreate the complex wealth of human experience. This volume gathers the best of his storytelling production. Ninety-five tales that reveal an artist gifted at highlighting the minuscule glow of lives confined to impossibility. Faithful to the poetic of fragmentation and periphery that sidelined him from the Boom movement, the Peruvian author knew how to narrate, with compassionate irony, the fate of those beings touched by frustration, decadence, and mystery, and draw a form of incomparable beauty from that sensitive material. Over the years, the work of Julio Ramon Ribeyro has only gathered readers and admiration. These pages confirm the privileged place his name has among the great masters of short prose of all time.
