Paperback. Cubby the Capybara and the Dark Night is a gentle bedtime picture book about feeling scared of the dark and learning to feel safe again. When night falls and the lights go out, Cubby's room suddenly feels huge and shadowy. His imagination turns every shape and sound into something frightening, until Papa teaches him a simple way to "meet the night" notice what you can see, hear, and feel. As Cubby pays attention to familiar things-his shelf, his toys, the soft blanket, the owl outside, the page turning in the hall-the dark stops being a big, fuzzy mystery and becomes a place full of real, friendly details. Told in calm, rhythmic language with cozy illustrations, the story gives young children a concrete, repeatable strategy for bedtime fears, while reassuring them that it is normal to feel nervous when the lights first go out. It is designed for ages roughly 3-7 and works well as a read-aloud for anxious little ones and their grown-ups. At bedtime, Cubby the Capybara's room feels scary. With Papa's help and three small questions, he learns to calm his fear of the dark. This item is printed on demand.
