Paperback. Across small towns and cities, the heart of America is quietly crumbling - One historic building at a time. The Crumbling of Main Street uncovers the hidden crisis of our neglected infrastructure. This book peels back the layers of covered and too often neglected history. Policy failures, economic shifts, and even fear of change have left once-thriving towns in decay.Drawing from personal experience, firsthand accounts, and expert insights, Tiffany "Brick Lady" Tillema explores what happens when communities fail to preserve their architectural heritage and what can be done before it's too late. Using real-life examples of successful towns that are preserving their history and thriving, she shows how it can and should be done. At the same time, she uses her own hometown to show what can happen when preservation and Historical Districts are not properly implemented. With engaging storytelling and a call to action, this book is both a wake-up call and a roadmap for saving our towns before they crumble, brick by brick. If you care about history, community, and the future of Main Street, this is a book you won't want to miss.
