In this diverse princess book for girls ages 4-8, four royal friends redefine what it means to "act like a princess." Together, the strong brave girls discover that their dreams are even more valuable than their crowns.

"A wonderful story featuring beautifully illustrated princesses with aspirations as diverse as they are. They inspire the reader to dream big and use their voice to speak up and be heard!" -Zulekha Holder-Young, author of I Am Smart, I Am Blessed, I Can Do Anything! and I Am Amazing!

Once upon a time, there lived four young princesses who were the bravest and kindest girls in all of the land.

Each princess had a vision of what they wanted to be when they grew up. And those dreams extended far beyond finding a prince--they reached all the way into astronauts exploring space, and pilots traveling the world!

Determined to dream big, the four royal friends craft a plan to make their families understand their wishes once and for all.

In this unique take on a princess book for girls, young readers will discover a diverse fairy tale with:

• positive examples of friendship for kids,
• princesses dreaming of science careers (for a lighthearted spin on STEM books for girls),
• diverse families for kids, celebrating families of all structures and normalizing same-sex and single parents, and
• encouragement for girls of all races and colors to see themselves as the royalty and developing leaders that they are!

Written by a single father, fans of daddy daughter books featuring positive parenting will love the book's heartfelt messages from a proud papa.

Classic fairy tales fall short of being empowering books for little girls, particularly young girls of color. More Than a Crown will inspire your child to dream bigger-and think about the mark they'd like to leave on the world.

The possibilities were endless for them.

Their imaginations were their only limit.

From that moment on, they lived happily ever after--

with their crowns and their dreams.

"As the dad of a daughter who is discovering her magic and sense of who she is, I know that this book truly is for her in every way! The words in this book remind her that she is brave, smart, and beautiful."

-Peter Mutabazi, author of Now I Am Known

As a single gay dad with proud Puerto Rican roots, Roberto is all too aware that media representations do not frequently reflect the beautiful diversity of readers and their family structures. Roberto's writing highlights much-needed variations of love, friendship, empowerment, and joy.
