No Cross No Crown
A Modern Reprint of Part 1 of William Penn's Original Manuscript
Centuries ago, William Penn presented a wonderful and wise argument for the Christian life to the scoffers of his day. Although much time has passed, the truths are spiritual insight contained in his manuscript remain as sharp today as they were then. What is true worship? How can faith without works or action be a true testimony? Who is a true disciple of Christ who does not take up his or her cross?
The modified and somewhat modernized reprint consists of only the first part of his original; it is the heart of his treatise. In it William Penn passionately defends the case of Christ and tenderly urges you to take up your cross. For without the cross, there is no crown.
About the Author: Penn founded Pennsylvania as a "Holy Experiment" under Charles II. He was a well-known proponent of religious freedom and tolerance in England and parts of Europe, specifically as a Quaker. His convictions landed him in jail serveral times. He wrote No Cross, No Crown while imprisoned in the Tower of London. As is the case with most who carry the truth of the gospel so passionately, he spent much time in prison for what he believed.
