Print on Demand. This book provides an unforgettable look into the 13th-14th century political and cultural context for the Mediterranean region via the memoirs of a real-life military man disillusioned by the politics of his day. Raimondo Muntaner's firsthand account offers a depth of understanding of the major players and events of his time. Through his compelling account, the motivations of Aragon's King James I and the policies of his son, Peter III, come to life, providing the reader with a vivid picture of the challenges of medieval European governance. The author's detailed narrative of the wars and battles he personally fought in, such as the 1285 invasion of France and the conquest of Sicily, are indispensable for understanding the military history of this period. His perspective as a soldier dissatisfied with the status quo offers insightful commentary on the social, political, and economic problems that plagued the Mediterranean during this fascinating era. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
