Neuware - Against her better judgment, FBI Special Agent Alex Southerland pours every ounce of her heart into each case. Still, no one believes she did all she could to keep a kidnapped little boy in New York from being burned alive. But, there's no time for reflection, self pity, fear or doubt because another innocent has been taken, and the terrorist group responsible is demanding the unspeakable-the immediate release of a deadly comrade. Despite Alex's warnings and desperate pleas, District Attorney Miller's misplaced sense of duty charges her the kind of debt no parent should ever have to pay.Miller's loss is too much to bear. In spite of another child's horrific death and a very public suicide on Alex's conscience-not to mention an explosive family feud that nearly gets her killed-she clings to what she knows best; the job. At first glance, this next case seems hopeful, but something's wrong, and it's the kind of treacherous, murdering wrong she'd just as soon avoid. Suddenly, she's right back in the hornet's nest, only this time her life's in jeopardy too as she finds herself at the mercy of a sick, twisted sadist; a human trafficker; and the man holding all the keys that could bring a boy back home to his loving father. It's more than just another case for Alex; it's all she has left. Unfortunately, the chips are stacked against her. There's little chance of success, but she knows if she can save this last victim, then maybe, just maybe, she can redeem herself too.The epic Primal Deity saga continues. …
