Hidden reputations, public rumors, and a family bound by obligation collide in a sweeping tale of ambition and secrets.
In this vivid novel, a tangled web of rumour and tragedy sweeps a renowned family into unpredictable changes. As names like Jane Holland and George Tanqueray surface in London gossip, the Brodricks confront pressure to marry, preserve status, and protect loved ones from scandal. The story follows personal loyalties, artistic genius, and the price of keeping powerful truths in the shadows.
With a richly drawn cast, the narrative explores how ambition, affection, and duty push people toward difficult choices. The tension between public perception and private conviction drives the drama, creating a consuming sense of consequence for every decision.
- Meet a family that guards a delicate secret while facing the pull of love and duty.
- Watch how reputation shapes choices across generations and social circles.
- See how genius, illness, and rivalry intersect with devotion and sacrifice.
- Experience London life, intimate confidences, and the stakes of family honor.
Ideal for readers who enjoy literary fiction that blends character study with social intrigue and a strong sense of place.
